Somme Tales

Funded by the Friends of The National Archives, Somme Tales is a creative project that took place at the archives from 1-5 August 2016 in partnership with professional film-maker Nigel Kellaway.

Applications were invited from young people across the country (aged 16-19 years of age) to take part. Ten of the most outstanding applications were selected and the young people spent time engaging with documents about the Somme and the First World War before planning and creating a stop-motion film about their interpretations of the records.

Somme Tales was premiered at The National Archives on Tuesday 25th October 2016.
