An overview of the cataloguing projects that took place at The National Archives in 2016.
Records specialist George Hay highlights the experiences and outcomes of the recently completed volunteer project to re-catalogue the record series WO 374, one of two main series containing the records of officers’ services for the First World War. Prior to the completion of the project, researchers could only explore the collection using a surname, initials and an abbreviated rank; this discussion highlights the data now captured and added to the catalogue and the significance of this development to a variety of different users.
